The Jacobs Institute believes that providing individuals with "hand outs" only perpetuates the cycle of dependency and poverty.  The only true way to help the needy is to teach them to be self-sufficient.

We are a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) ,Christian based adult education center and homeless shelter located in Gladewater, Texas. We help the unemployed and underemployed gain the skills needed to secure a well paying job that will allow them to support themselves and their families.

We enjoy a high success rate and attribute this achievement to the Lord's blessings.

We offer free and reduced cost training to anyone who seeks our help.

Jacobs Institute Statistics:  Success Rate of 81.25%

80% of our residents come in without a high school diploma and ultimately obtain their GED.
95% of our residents become computer literate.
40% of our residents pursue the Pharmacy Technician preparation course.
100% of these residents have gone on to pass the Pharmacy Technician National Board Examination.
30% of our residents pursue Medical Office Training.
Of these, 95% pass the Medical Terminology course.
40% go on to learn Medical Coding.
30% opt to pursue a college degree.
100% of these have successfully secured financial aid.66% have successfully completed two semesters of college courses and have relocated to a college dormitory.
100% of our residents have become a member of a church while in residency.
66% continue to be active in their church on leaving Jacobs.
